The Swedish musician, concept and performance artist Carl Michael von Hausswolff explores the borderline and experimental areas of visual and audio communication by capturing interferences and radio frequency disruptions by means of measuring devices such as motion detectors, telephones, video cameras and oscilloscopes. His Mobile Unit for the Detection of Unknown Entities is an audiovisual installation that uses a radar to produce images. The surroundings are scanned to find the invisible or inaudible and render it visible. The pseudo-scientific experiment taps into each new exhibition venue as a site of paranormal phenomena and, by constantly processing new data, integrates the presence of the viewer. At the same time, it reflects upon the esthetics of the scientific image in the artistic sphere.
